Le président Muhammadu Buhari, jeudi à Abuja, a souligné l’importance de la paix dans la République du Bénin voisin.
S’exprimant devant le président de la République du Bénin, Patrice Talon, à la State House, le dirigeant nigérian a souligné l’impératif de bon voisinage tout en promettant le soutien du Nigéria aux efforts visant à rétablir la stabilité politique chez son voisin occidental.
Le président Talon, venu féliciter le président Buhari pour sa réélection et son investiture réussie, a également informé le dirigeant nigérian de la situation politique actuelle dans son pays.
Par ailleurs, le président Buhari a reçu jeudi une délégation soudanaise conduite par le lieutenant-général. Jamal-Eddin Omer Ibrahim, chef du Comité de la sécurité et de la défense, est venu l’informer de la situation politique dans ce pays d’Afrique du Nord-Est.

PRESIDENT BUHARI STRESSES NEED FOR PEACE IN BENIN REPUBLIC
President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday in Abuja stressed the importance of peace in neighbouring Benin Republic.
Speaking at an audience with the President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon at the State House, the Nigerian leader emphasised the imperative of good neighbourliness, while pledging Nigeria’s support towards efforts to re-establish political stability in her western neighbour.
President Talon, who came to congratulate President Buhari on his re-election and successful inauguration, also briefed the Nigerian leader on the current political situation in his country.
In a related development, President Buhari Thursday received a Sudanese delegation led by Lt-Gen. Jamal-Eddin Omer Ibrahim, Head of the Security and Defence Committee, which came to brief him on the political situation in the north-eastern African country.
